I was having problems with my system and having to keep
starting up using "safe mode". I assumed the best
thing to do was to reinstall windows from the cd. In the
process of the reinstall the machine asked for Service
Pack 3. I did not have a disk with sp3. I hit cancel and
the computer restarted but went back to the install screen
and asked for service pack 3. I have tried every
intervention I can think of but on startup it keeping
going back to the setup process and asking for SP3.

I downloaded SP3 at work and took it home to offer
it up when I got the prompt. I put the CD in when asked,
the CD drive whirs for a few seconds but then nothing
happens.

At this point I can't get into my system.

Any help at all would be greatly appreciated. There must
be a way to get past this SP3 request box. As I said, I
have tried to get back into safe mode and used all the
other options on the screen where you can select "safe
mode" and nothing works. I always get the message that
says entering setup and it asks for the sp3 CD. But the
downloaded SP3 CD is not accepted.

In desperate need of help. Any thoughts?

Thanks.
