Hello Friends,

First of all a very big thank for all u guys who are
doing a very great job by helping.

Alright, I have a query too ;). I cannot start my Window
2000 Professional. When I start my computer I get an
error message about some missing file. The error message
or the missing file message is as follows:

"Windows 2000 could not start because the following file
is missing or corrupt -
<Windows2000root>\system\intoskrnl.exe"

Any help on this is much appreciated. BTW I am posting
this message through one of my friends computer.

Thanks & Regards
David Harvard

Trying running an in place repair on the OS. Make sure you use a win2k cd
with the same service pack level as the OS on the machine or you'll have
problems.

Good Luck

The NTOSKRNL.EXE is the first file which accessed once the
boot process is complete. This could mean several things:

Cause:
1. The boot.ini is misconfigured.
2. The NTOSKRNL.EXE is corrupt.

Solution:
1. Created a boot disk with all possible options within
the boot.ini, and try them systematically. Refer to the
following article for help:

317526 How to edit the Boot.ini file in Windows Server 2003
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=317526

2. Boot into recovery console, and run a CHKDSK on the
system drive (C:).

There are other possible causes which include Software and
Hardware redundancy (RAID). If those are a factor, I
recommend calling the hardware vendor, or using the boot
disk to boot off of the software mirror.
