I have a security password that I use after the computer
is idle for 15 minutes. All morning the password worked
fine. After lunch I was unable to log back in using the
same password I used all morning. How can I log back in?

Unless someone else got into your computer and changed it during luch ,
you may just need to disable caps lock. Passwords are case sensitive. ---

i have had the same problem. my computer prompted me to
change my password. so i did and now it won't let me on
with either password. and my caps isn't on. so waht do i
do??????? i am completely locked out of my computer.

tried the CAPS lock already. Still did not work. Thank
you for your kind response

If by chance somebody did change it, how can I log back
in without having to reload the operating system?

Is the securty password you mention the W2K password? If so, can you
log on as administrator>

1) Depending on the security policy, the user account may have become
locked out if the maximum allowed number of non successful log -on
attempts was exceeded. This could have happened by someone trying to
log on during the lunch break. (the admin account cannot be locked
out)

2) There was a "feature" in W2K which caused all non-admin accounts
the become inactive (locked out?) when the security log overflowed
(depending on settings). It's possible that this has been patched
now, I saw it a couple of years ago on a machine. There was some info
on the net and a few usenet posts. The admin account remained OK.
