run the 2000 pro box with a netgear or the like router with NAT.
then use a virus scaner on the box (no norton), if you don't click
on a virual .exe or web site, you will be as safe as can be.
this is a 2000 pro box with no IIS running.
A built in firewall was not introduced until XP came out. You can use ipsec filtering
to create a type of firewall if you understand the risks and are competent with
creating firewall rules and have knowledge of tcp/ip. A better solution would to use
a free personal firewall. There are may available and Zone Alarm is good for the
