Hi, i just installed win.2000 pro on an older pc. HP vectra va 6/200. Install
went well, but when it tries to go into hibernation,or when you try to s/d,
you get a blue screen with some errors on there. Then it just restarts. I did
the safe mode thing and it s/d good, but thats all know. It has matrox
millenium video card, Sound blaster 16bit sound card, basic stuff for this
relect. Any help with this would be great, thanks in advance. Paul

More than likely incompatible firmware and or hardware.

If its OK in safe mode then it would appear to be a driver problem
The BSOD should show an err msg, which if you post may enable someone to
diagnose the specific problem
As a starter you could visit both Matrox & Sound Blaster sites to ensure you
have the latest win2k drivers installed.
You might also visit HP and check for updated chipset & Bios

I agreee that its most likely slightly incompatible hardware/firmware.
Disable all sleep/hibernate/power management functiionality and it'll
probably be just fine.

As an alternative you could, when advised to "Hit F6 to load additional
drivers" during the early part of setup, hit F7 instead. This will load a
non-ACPI HAL which almost always solves the sorts of problems you describe.
If your board requires you to hit F6, then hit F7 as well.
