....won't fully load. The boot sequence begins. It goes
thru the recognition of all the peripherals, RAM, etc.
The proceeds to the W2K loading screen. Then, I get a
blank lite-blue screen...nothing else happens.

If I try to start in SafeMode, all the same happens. Then
I get a black screen with "safe mode" in each of the four
corners of the screen. No commands work, like <control-
alt-delete>.

If I put the install disc in, and boot up, all of the
above happens...and nothing else. I can't even get a
command prompt to appear to run the install disc. Can
someone please send me an early Xmas gift? ;-) David

Check that explorer.exe is the default shell to start. Look at the Reg_Sz
string value of;
"Shell"="Explorer.exe"
found at
HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon

Else these may help you.

Dave P:
I changed the boot sequence and moved the CD drive in
front of C. With that, the rig acknowledged that I had
the W2K disc in, and managed to do the repair of the OS.
I'm still getting that blank lite-blue screen, with no
Start button.
David C.

You didn't mention, but you may want to try the other two options. Also
check Event Viewer for errors.
Task Manager|File|New Task|%windir%\system32\eventvwr.msc

I had the light blue blank screen too. I ended up doing an
Alt-Crtl-Del then from there run task manager, and from
that window file/new task. And i typed in Explorer. Doing
that gave me back my desktop. then i when right to
microsoft and got a service pack. in my case it was Sp4
and now it works great.

See if you get the same thing...cant hurt
