Help,

I just bought a system off of a company that closed it's
doors, but they had the system networked and set up for
password protection, is there any way to get into the
system without reformatting the hard drive and starting
over if I don't have an admin password?

Maybe this is a dumb question, but if you don't need any data/apps on that
computer as is, why not just reinstall the OS from scratch & reinstall? I'd
go that route if it were up to me. I have a suspicious nature, though, and
don't usually trust that someone else would have set up a computer to my own
standards. Plus, if this computer was originally set up for a network you
can't access (nor need to)...seems like a no-brainer to me.

That said, might want to see
http://www3.telus.net/dandemar/lostpass.htm
and/or
http://securityadmin.info/db/faqresults.asp?keyword=password&SType=AnyWord&CATID=Optional

This lets you reset the default local administrator account - you won't be
able to modify a cached domain login account this way.

If this is a recent buy (2 or 3 days at most), then you
should immediatley get with the company or person who sold
you the system for more information.
