After installing service pack 4 for windows, my windows
explorer takes forever to load any internet site. I know
that there was an issue with Norton Antivirus 2001, but I
thought Norton 2004 would resolve the issue. Does anyone
have any ideas on how to fix this problem?

Regards,
Jeff

jeff, i am also having the same problems and the only
soution i have been offered was to uninstall sp4 from the
add/remove programs meneu. if it is not there then u did
not archive your computer before u installed the sp.

Yes, I did archive and I was able to correct the problem
by removing SP4. I wish Microsoft would fix the problem.
It seems like there's a lot of people experiencing this
problem. At least I am not alone.

Thanks,
Jeff

I've had a similar problem but reckon it may be the NIS 2004 firewall rather
than antiv.

Loading NIS2004 at startup causes tray icons to load slowly (5 minutes),
then desktop icons, then wallpaper, then the NIS2004 tray icon last. You
can't use Find Files from Start / Search or windows explorer search - both
lock up windows. Nor can you get Properties when you right click a drive in
explorer. SP4 can't be uninstalled because the removal program hangs.

I've resolved all these problems by inhibiting auto startup for NIS2004 and
manually enabling it from the tray icon after windows boots - everything
works just fine. I've raised a query with Norton tech help. More if I get
an answer.
