windows 2000 pro email

How can I backup my emails? I am running win2000 pro using Microsoft Outlook
2000. I heard that its a .pst file but I tried searching for any .pst files
but none could be found. I need to re-install win2000 because when I tried
changing my motherboard, the system would not bootup. I gave a stop error
saying the bootable device not found.

The extension of your EMail data store files depends on
the mail client you use (which you did not state): .pst for
Outlook, .dbx for Outlook Express, and other extensions
for third-party mail clients.

The is a more serious issue here. Many people choose
not to backup any of their important files every week to
an independent medium, because they believe that once
a file is saved, it remains accessible for all times. The
usually reconsider their approach when faced with a
major disaster.
 
Try changing the mobo back and then look for it in the default store for the
*.pst file;
%userprofile%\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook

You may also need to;
Explorer|Tools|Folder Options|View, then radio button for "Show hidden files
and folders", then uncheck the box for "Hide protected operating system
files"
