I have got some doubts regarding win 2000 server.

1)I want that when someone logs into the domain he should
get a
dispplay like

vmehta(Vijay Mehta)last logged into the domain on 08-March-
04 at 4:30
P.M IST.

I know it is possible to configure this. Please tell how to
do so.

2)We want to implement password policy where we should
have passwords
which are a mix of alphabets and numeric numbers.

When i enables "password much meet complexity
reqiuirements " in
group policy, then it enables alphanumeric plus special
characters in
password policy ,while we wants only alphanumeric password.

I hope i am clear.
Please tell me the solution of these.

Thanks for the reply Steve.
But that is for windows NT.

I require a password that requires both letters and
numbers (alphanumeric), however I do not want to request
to use symbols. By default, the complexity setting (when
enabled) requires letters, numbers and symbols....I only
want to require letters and numbers

Yes. I have never tried it but it is supposed to be similar to iplement in
W2K - custom passfilt.dll. You might try to search TechNet for
ssfilt.dll. --- Steve

Vijay,

You should be able to do this with a logon script. By default, W2K has also
kixstar (http://www.kixtart.org/) and they have a bunch of scripts including
a newgroup where you can help from other users that might have gone tru the
same issue. However, I implemented the same using ScriptLogin
(http://www.scriptlogic.com/eng/products/ScriptLogic/main.asp) and it does
what you want it to do.

The message I did read like this and it it used everytime a user logs into a
machine, keep in mind that users need to have the logon script specified on
the account tab.
"You have successfully logged on to the DOMAINNAME Network from @Wksta at
@time on @day @Month @MDayNo @Year. I see that your log on account (@UserID)
is a Domain $Priv and has $LocalPriv rights to this computer."

Good Luck!
