Windows 2000 password Security

Hi!

I am using Windows 2000 Professional. When I am connecting
from another system in my network (LAN) there password of
my system is not asking. Please tell me why? How to
protect? Earliar it used to ask each time my machine was
connected from other system, if the other system is
restarted.

Another problem users can connected to my shared folders
from remote system by using LANguard they can crack my
password also. Please tell me is there any way to protect
my files from LANguard.

You can access your computer from another system in you
network without being prompt for a user and password
because you are logged on to the other system with the
same userid and password used on your system. The
credentials are the same. Either that or you have grant
permission on your computer/share to everyone in your
domain. Look at the sharing permission and clean that
up! :-D

I'm not too familiar with LANGuard but isn't that used to
protect your network? I doubt they "crack" your
password... I think the sharing permissions are set wrong.

Using LANguard windows password can easily be cracked.
Because the software shows all the systems within the
specified IP addresses and displays all shared folders. If
the folders are shared with password, we can rightclick,
where we can select crack password. Then it will show the
password of the shared folder. With that password we can
access the contents of the folder.

I assure the above procedure. So I am affried about my
files. Please help.
