Hello

I recently had a WIN2000 PRO machine have a network
problem. The machine was running OK and then I updated
McAffee AV SW. The update restarted the computer and now I
can not get either IE6 or Netscape 7 to run. My Telnet
application CRT does not work either.
I unloaded the AV SW but still no go !

The PC is able to ping other machines outside the network
and also receives pings from other machines.
Under IE it just gives a cant find page error. I have
tried most of the simple things, but this one is beyond
me.

Any and all help and suggestions WELCOME !

Hi,
If you find a solution please let me know. My win2000 machine died almost
the same way when I updated Mcafee SW. I now have no network access with my
cable modem or dialup.I deleted all Mcafee SW

ok,i have met things like this,ie6 is not a good partner
on windows2000 ,when i meet that issue ,i uninstall ie6
and solved this issue, and you know first you must see if
there is no dns problem: if you have a lan connection
here, just ping www.yahoo.com if the result is correct, i
think this is must a ie6 issue,so trust me and uninstall
it.

choose good soft config is very important for you,and
below is mine: win2ken sp4 norton av8.0corp.
flashfxp.hypersnap.nero,daemontool,realplayer8 (not
realone) ,macromedia studio mx.....ohohoh :)

It sounds to me like you upgraded to version 6 or 7 and McAfee Firewall
kicked in...
just a guess
If you uninstalled AV, the Firewall must be uninstalled separately
check if the firewall service is running in the Services applet
if it's there, disable it and that should help

Don't know if this helps your prob, but we updated Mcafee
