For the past week, I've been having a problem in trying to disconnect
the modem after connecting to the internet (I've been using Win2K on
this machine for over 2 years without any problems).

When I right-click on the Task bar connection icon and select
Disconnect, it doesn't do anything. And I'm also unable to open the
Modem Control Panel when this happens. So the only alternative is to
shut-down the machine.

Has anyone experienced this problem, could it be related to a Virus?

Please respond.

Thanks.

I know two persons who are having this same problem, and I'm quite sure
they are not infected by any virus.

It seems like the connection status window crashes, and then stops responding.

They can both disconnect by unplugging the phone line from the modem, or
like you, restarting their computer.

My suspicion is that it is caused by SP4, because my sister hadn't this
problem before she installed SP4. Which update do you have?
