Lynn - The absolute minimum RAM required to install W2k is 32MB. The
system will not really perform speedily enough for most people unless it
has 128MB, and 192-512MB is usually just fine for most home users. In
that ballpark, the more the better.
However, you may have been imprecise where actual language counts:
If the message is referring to disk space (not RAM), then please post
back with the exact message. No system message would call disk space
"memory."
If there's a hard drive problem, then please post back with the exact
message. And include whatever detail you can about the drive. You may
have seen a message that actually says the system can't find a drive. In
that case, most probably either
(1) you failed to provide the necessary W2k motherboard driver(s),
without which the install cannot succeed, or
(2) actually have a damaged drive, in which case a call to the drive
manufacturer's support team or a visit to their website is imperative.
Often, upon analysis, the damaged drive will be replaced at no cost to
you; drive warrantees are long-lived. The support team will ask you for
various info like the serial number of the drive, so be prepared for
that (you may have to physically remove the drive to see the label on it.)
