Windows 2000/ME peer to peer problems

use TCP/IP. make sute that the IP addresses are not the
same and they are both on the same subnet mask. Also make
sure they are on the same workgroup.
 
Also make sure that all useraccounts exist on the W2K and that File- and
Printersharing is loaded.

Currently, the IP addresses are obtained automatically. They have the
same workgroup but I'm not clear on what is the subnet mask. If I
need to change any of this, how exactly would I go about doing so?

I created a login on the Win2000 at the User level (is this enough?)
that is the same as on the laptop but it still does not work.
