windows 2000 keyboard error

Hi

Can anyone help. My laptop has started typing numbers
when I press the alphabet keys. It's happening in word
2000, Excel and Notepad. I am running Windows 2000. It's
mystifying

Hi jack,
(with respect, this isn't a problem for a networking newsgroup)

Run a virus checker, check your international settings or try using an
external keyboard in case it's hardware related.

There might be a setting on your laptop that converts some of the
letter keys to a numeric keypad. For example, when I press the "Fn"
key on my laptop, U becomes 4, I becomes 5, etc.

Does the problem go away if you reboot?
