Hi,

I installed the intel driver update released in April
2003 from the windows update site.

Now the windows don't boot normally. I see blank screen
after the normal "starting Windows" screen.

I can start only in Safe Mode. How can I uninstall that
update or is there any other solution.

Is this some kind of virus ?????

Thanks and Regards,
Abhishek

I had the same problem. The cause appears to be this
driver update is not generally applicable. The driver
update is labled for INTEL graphics controllers in
general. But if you read the release notes is is for a
TOSHIBA system.

My system:

Win 2000 Server SP4
INTEL D845GBV motherboard with integrated video

After istallation I get a BSOD with error 1E 0000C005 0 0 0
which indicated a bad interrupt handler (invalid memory
access).

To correct I had to download the current INTEL drivers for
the motherboard from the INTEL website. They were updated
in Jan 2003 and are dated 22Nov2002.

THIS DRIVER UPDATE WAS INCORRECTLY OFFERED:
1) IT appears to be for another hardware environment
2) BUT. installed itself as the current video driver.
3) AND CRASHES

Thanks MICROSOFT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Same problem here.

The update ran twice during one Windows Update session.
After reboot - black screen after the windows startup page.

Resolved by starting in VGA mode and reinstalling the
drivers for the Intel 82865 controller.

Virus scan did not reveal anything unusual.

Same problem, blue screen after update.

I also resolved this by booting in safe mode, and
uninstalling the graphics driver, installing the VGA from
Msoft, then re-installing the drivers from my Vendor once
the system was rebooted.

So much for trusting Msoft Update...
