I have Windows 2000 installed on a P4 machine. It is connected to the
internet 24/7 via DSL and is plugged into a 4 port router. I hardly
ever reboot the machine
This morning when I turned on my monitor on I saw that Windows 2000
was starting up and then I was getting the blue screen and the computer
rebooted. This happend about 5 times before I started it in safe mode.
The machine started up and I saw that none of my
data/document/multimedia files were affected. However, my profile seems
to have been reset/removed and I was not able to see my personalized
desktop settings.
When I tried to start internet explorer I was taken to an internet
setup wizard and the machine hung. I rebooted the machine and attempted
to start it in Safe Mode with Networking. This resulted in the blue
screen showing up just as windows was about to start and the computer
rebooted
Any ideas what I can do other than backing up all my data files, and
reinstalling the OS?
Thank You
