After an extensive battle with a virus and spyware laden machine, I'm working
to un-corrupt all the system files. In the course of this removal, IE no
longer works. I can't set up a connection to the internet, because IE is
broken, and I can't re-install IE, because I don't have an internet
connection.

However, I do have another hard drive connected to it, that I can boot
Windows XP on, dump a file onto the Windows 2000 hard drive and run it.

So, is there somewhere that you can download a "full" version of IE, that
doesn't require an internet connection to complete the installation?

Please expand on "IE no longer works...IE is broken" and tell us how you've
gone about "[un-corrupting] all system files".

Is KB918999 present in Add/Remove Programs?

Internet Explorer (918899):

If the problem's being/was caused by hijackware, reinstalling IE won't help:
This stuff infected the Operating System, not IE.

When all else fails, HijackThis v1.99.1
(http://aumha.org/downloads/hijackthis.zip) is the preferred tool to use.
It will help you to both identify and remove any hijackware/spyware. **Post

If the procedures look too complex - and there is no shame in admitting this
isn't your cup of tea - take the machine to a local, reputable and
independent (i.e., not BigBoxStoreUSA) computer repair shop.
