Dear friends,

I have one windows 2000 server with active directory. We
have some windows 2000 professional clients and they are
members of the active directory. Now I want to add one
more windows 2000 prof/xp client to active directory
server member.

I am getting some problem here. I have received the error
message: The following error occurred when attempting to
join "domain name". The network path was not found

I have gone through the MS KB articles 269264, 266324.
It is not very clear.

Please help me how to do this.

Thanks

You shouldn't need to change SRV RRs if other machines are working. The
most likely explanation is that you haven't configured the new W2K prof
host to use the same DNS server as the rest of the Active Directory
machines (probably the domain controller.)

Thanks Adam,
But I have given the same DNS entry which I have given for
all the working clients.

Still got same problem.

Any further help would be appreciated.

If using the proper internal DNS only, then I would suggest further testing,
such as:

1. Ccan you ping the server by IP address? This confirms network
connectivity.
2. Can you ping the server by it's NetBIOS name (it's computer name)? THis
confirms NetBIOS name resolution.
3. Can you ping the server by it's FQDN (servername.yourdomainname.com)?
This confirms DNS resolution.

If not, can you provide an unedited ipconfig /all of the DC and of the
client please?
Can you also let us know what your AD DNS Domain name is (as it shows up in
your ADUC)?

THanks
