Windows 2000 hangs on start up

I installed VCOM's System Suite 5. I ran some checks with
its diagnotic programs and system speed up programs. On a
reboot, Windows will load everything, load the background
screen, display the icon placements and start updating
them. At this point, there are several icons that have
not refreshed nor has Office 2000 shortcut bar loaded.
The cursur will show it is busy and loading has stopped.
I get the start bar at the bottom of screen but in that
region of the screen the cursur shows busy. In the
display section of the screen it is normal. Task manager
will come up but none of the buttons work. I can start in
safe mode but do not know what to disable or remove to get
windows to finish loading.
 
I dont have product installed on my pc so i cant verify.Try removing
software from add/remove program in safe mode .then boot in normal mode and
see if it works.
 
Got windows to finish start up by ininstalling some
critical updates listed in an earlier posting
