I have inherited a Compaq Deskpro EN (with no documentation). It has an
intgerated network connector on the motherboard (marked with 'InNet/SCS
SI-50014').

I have installed W2K server on it but it failed to spot the network
connector. Ther are some drivers on the machine and I have tried installing
a couple of them (I'm not sure which ones are correct), but after a re-boot
they alwyas say 'unable to start device' in device manager.

Should W2K spot the device ? Or is there a different process to follow with
this kind of network connector ?

Thanks for any help,

Steve

If you don't have the drivers for the device on CD, try downloading them
from Compaq's website onto a floppy or burn them to a CD. You should just be
able to point the install wizard to the proper location upon auto-detect
unless there is something physically wrong with the machine.

So you are saying that you would expect Windows 2000 to auto-detect and
prompt me for the drivers ?

If so, that's not happening. The network connector was working fine until
I installed windows 2000 (stupidly, I didn't make a note of the set up
before doing this).

Any ideas how I can get Windows 2000 to recognise the network connector ?

Thanks

Steve
