Hello,

I'm in the process of migrating my domain from Windows 2000 to Windows
2003.

I currently have brought up two Windows 2003 domain controllers within
the domain, and I want to transfer the roles off of my Windows 2000 PDC
(which is also the Exchange 2000 server). My question is, if I transfer
the roles off of the Windows 2000 machine, will it break Exchange 2000?
I'm also going to upgrade to Exchange 2003 but it was my understanding
that I had to transfer the roles to 2003 before I brought up the new
Exchange box and started moving mailboxes. Any help is appreciated.
Thank you!

Chris

no

nope, not needed, but recommended.
it is also recommended to place exchange on a server that is not also a DC!

Thank you!

I'm cleaning up a mess of an apparently clueless IT guy that was in
this place before me. I was shocked that Exchange was sitting on the
DC.
