Hello:

In 11.02, my employer purchased an HP 553x; in 03.03 they
discarded both me and the computer. In the interim, idiot
IP mgr replaced XP with Windows 2000 Professional.

Ergo, hw that came with computer (sound card, CD burner,
internal modem, etc.) will not function. HP helped me get
the modem up, but could not help with other drivers.

Main desire at moment is to get sound card running; HP
identified card as "AC97".

Thanks in advance for any forthcoming help.

Cheers!

Open up the computer and find the sound card (or onboard
sound chip), and copy the numbers off the large chip(s).
There will be a manufacturer (e.g. ESS) along with a model#.
Then go to the manufacturer's website and download the
most recent Win2K or XP driver for that model.
