I have a DNS server on my local area network that a friend of mine set up for
me. I want to remove it because the computer its on is an older one and if it
craps out on me we have no internet the way he set it up
Any help towards getting this thing removed is greatly appreciated

Hello robert,

Please give some more info about the complete network setup. Workstations,
routers and other servers. How do you connect to the internet?

Best regards

Yea that would probably help huh LOL
3 PC's always running including the server lynksis router hooked up to DSL
the 2 other PC's hooked up are running windows XP the server is running
windows 2000 sp4

Hello robert,

I think it will not be a problem to use the Linksys router as DNS server
and Default gateway. I use my DSL router at home for DHCP and it is also
the DNS "server". Just point with the preferred DNS ip to the router should
work. To really test it, disconnect the DNS server form the LAN and change
the ip to the Linksys and try to go to the internet. If it does not work
i would check the router configuration first and try again.
