i know this can be done in win9x by editing msdos.sys,
but is it possible to somehow achieve the same result in
win2000?

I am not sure what exactly you are referring to. If you can be more specific
it would be helpful. There are lot of options to restrict a user using Group
Policy. For instance use gpedit.msc to open Local Group Policy and look
under use configuration/administrative templates for the many options in the
various categories. --- Steve

sorry, i'll be more specific - i dont have a Win 2k
system here to test this on myself, so it's a second-hand
question..

F8, F5, F4, Ctrl - on bootup - will disrupt the boot
process - give safe mode access, multiboot menu etc?

In Win9x you can edit the MSDOS.SYS file to disable
those 'boot' key options. I can't find how to do this in
XP either, but 2000 is more important right now.

I don't know of a way to do that. Ntldr controls that. I know some fellow
modified ntldr to disable F8 and had it available as a download but I can't
find that link.If you search Google you may find a link. --- Steve
