windows 2000 desktop icon help

How do I get rid of the "box" around the letters under the icons on my
desktop on windows 2000? I want the icon and simply letters below it
so as not to interfere with the wallpaper. Any help would be
appreciated.

You need a third-party tool to do this in Windows 2000. One I use is
Transparent by Jay Guerette. You can get it here:
