I am unable to get the most recent critical updates to install. I have performed the recommended fixes found in the knowledge base, but still no success. The updates will download, but do not install. Any help/suggestions would be much appreciated.

Go to start menu, then to all programs, then windows
updates. when you open this window, wait for the auto
installer to download. Then check yes. Then click on scan
for updates. I think this might help or it's another way
to get to these updates, Rony..

I can download them just fine, but when I click to install, they go through the motions, then display installation failure. Even the Auto-update shows them failing to install. I looked at the log, and it appears that the auto-updates have been failing to install since October 16, and also it is only the most recent critical updates that fail to install. I have SP4 already. I am thinking it might be a setting that I inadvertently changed, but I have not figured out which one it is.

My friend had this problem he had a copy of windows XP I
think this was the problem?
