Boot your laptop using the Windows 2000 installation CD.
Once it loads you will have 3 options-repair, setup, and
something else I can't think of. Select setup. Setup
will start and detect that you have win2k already
installed and it will give you another chance to repair.
This time select repair. This will reload all of the
win2k system files w/o messing up any other programs you
may have installed. Once your pc boots on its on you may
have to reinstall some drivers and service packs but
other than that you will be good to go. For some reason
the second repair option works better than the first.
During this process it may look like it is installing a
fresh copy of win2k, but as long as you selected that
second repair option don't worry it's not. Just don't
select anything that says format.
