After installing service pack 4 on Windows 2000 my machine
constantly reboots. I installed the service pack, it
finished installing, and then I selected yes to reboot.
After the os reboots, the opening Windows screen appears
and then it will reboot again. It stays in this cycle and
never starts up. Has anyone seen this problem before.
Any help you can give me will be appreciated.

Thanks!

I have the same problem. It occured after upgrading from
SP1 to SP4 - in my case the antivirus program pc-cilling
might be the reason, as it stopped the update process. Now
it seems, that I have a mixture of SP1 and SP4 files.

I have a $NTSERVICEPACKUNINSTAL$ directory and can start
the windows recovery console. But how can I restore from
$NTSERVICEPACKUNINSTAL$ from the recovery console?

I would very much appreciate if someone could help.

Greetings,
Ernst

I have a $NTSERVICEPACKUNINSTAL$ directory and can start
the windows recovery console. But how can I restore from
$NTSERVICEPACKUNINSTAL$ from the recotvery console?

I have forgotten to state, that I cannot access this
directory - it is on a separate harddisk (ntfs
partition). I always get an acess denied error.

(And I also cannot start windows, but only the recovery
console).
