WINDOWS 2000 CAUSES COMPUTER TO REBOOT IN LOOP

After installing Windows 2000 Professional, this is the
error message: For troubleshooting and advanced startup
options for Windows 2000 press F8 Windows 2000 could not
start because the following file is missing or corrupt:
<windows 2000 root>\system32\ntoskrnl.exe. Please re-
install a copy of the above file.
After installing Windows 2000 Professional again, my
computer loops continuously and will not load windows.
Help!

If you can get to another machine, try searching the CD
for the ntoskrnl.exe file. If you find it, copy it to a
floppy. Then boot the original machine, holding down the
F5 key after the machine checks memory. You should be
able to get to a command prompt. Insert the floppy in
the A drive and copy the file using the following command:
copy a:\ntoskrnl.exe c:\winnt\system32\
The winnt directory may be named something else, check
first using the command: dir win*. (Type the period)
Then hit enter.
