I'd like to know if there's a way to bypass that stupid
Novell password screen. I got this IBM laptop from a
friend who said he didn't need it anymore. He didn't have
the recovery disks for it, though. He'd had it for a
couple of years, and it worked fine. Just a couple of das
ago, I tried to log in, and it kept saying something like
access denied, or invalid password. I need to get into
the system settings and create a new user so that I can
fix this problem.

You should be able to go into network properties (right click my net places
and then do properties) and then do properties of your local area
connection. You should be able to remove the Novell gina from there and
then use the client for microsoft networks. These are usually added via
tcpip/install which then offers the different ones.
