I've setup two computers each belonging in the same
Workgroup. Both computers are connected to a
gateway/router. Both computers should "see" each other
but cannot.

However, with Windows 98, I can see the PC with XP and
vice versa.

Is it that Microsoft does not allow two like-Windows
Operating System to communicate?

Make sure all computers are in the same workgroup and that all useraccounts
exist on all computers (W2K/XP's). Got File- and printersharing loaded? Is
Netbios over TCP/IP enabled (Advanced properties of TCP/IP, tab WINS)?

Can someone explain WHY this is? I have a similiar (even
simpler?) problem. My home XP system and 98 system
always did basic filre sharing (password based) just
fine. I want my business laptop (Win 2K) to also be able
to see the shares but it (even after doing a network
search) won't see those machines, much less the shares.
Did Win2K (I have to login under the business workgroup
domain) 'fix' it so I am prevented from browsing other
stuff on the network? I have admin priviledges so manye
I can change that restriction?
Thanks
