Hey,

We have a Active Directory with mixed Windows 2000 and Windows 2003
DC's. Currently we have 2 Windows 2000 DNS servers. Where one is running
as primary and the other as secondary. Would it have any impact on the
secondary DNS server if we upgrade (or reinstall) it to Windows 2003 ?.

Thanks,
Jan-

No, no negative impact from the point of view of
a DNS server.

More features too, but most of those are not relevant
to a secondary (only a Primary or other...) -- BTW,
why are you running a secondary and not AD Integrated?

And the likely problems (from having it be a Win2003 DC)
have probably already been address since you have other
Win2003 DCs already (e.g., SMB signing issue for clients.)

Thanks,

Mayby it wrote it wrong. I have 2 Windows 2000 AD Integrated DNS
servers. I now want to remove the secondly added DNS server and
replace it with a new Windows 2003 DNS server which also should be
AD Integrated.

Can i just remove the DNS service and then retire the server and replace
it with a new Windows 2003 server (same IP-address but different
server name) ??.

Thanks,
Jan -
