This is a newbie question....:

I've just installed Windows Server 2003 and created a share(with
Everyone Full controll permission). I logged on as the administrator,
but couldn't get access to the share. Later I installed Windows 2000
Server and got the same problem.
I didn't do anything(any configurations) on the server before I
created the share.
Perhaps there's some network problems...

The machine is not connected to any network, it's a standalone
computer.

Any suggerstions anyone?

Thanks in advance!

That doesn't even make sense -- if you are not connect to "any" network
then what do you expect to share?

Even using a share from the SAME MACHINE is a Network connection....

"Couldn't access the share" -- what SPECIFICALLY does that mean -- what
did you try and what results or error messages did you see?

From the SAME machine you should be able to connect with:

net use * \\127.0.0.1\shareName

(Server name will work in place of that 127.0.0.1 address.)

What error do you get when you attempt to connect? How exactly are you attempting to connect?

Thank you,
Mike Johnston

Thanks for your answers!

I'm not connected to any network. It's a standalone computer with
Windows 2000 Server.
This is what I did:

- Installed Win 2000 Server(and first 2003)
- Created a share
- Gave Everyone Full controll permission to that share
- In 'Run' I wrote: \\machine-name
- Then I doubleclicked the share and got a message similar to:

"\\machine-name\share-name is not accessible. You might not have
permission to use this network resource.....
.....
The network location cannot be reached."

I know this is probably a silly newbie problem, but I'm pretty stucked
here. :-)

So why didn't you try my command line suggestion?

Same problem.

Seems to be some problems with my network settings here...

Ok, when you want help, consider describing the "problems" explicitly.
