Help! I have 2 computers, and in both Word documents will sometimes scroll
by themselves. Also, the image jumps briefly at other times, even when on
the Internet, say at Yahoo. My mouse is fine (it's an optical mouse), I
have antivirus programs up to date, and have scanned often for viruses. I
have tried system restore, but that hasn't helped. I have a Dell laptop,
and a Compaq POC (piece of crap).
Any suggestions? I'm mostly troubled by Word since I am a professional
writer. I can't have the display page automatically scroll down by itself!
Thanks much,
Joe

Sounds like you have the Autoscroll feature turned on. Go to microsoft
dot com & in the search box type in word automatically scrolls &
you'll find abut it. might want to search how to turn it off though.

It's not a virus, trojan or a worm. Probably a macro of a new doc you
got from someone.

Are you sure your mouse is OK? I had an intermittent mouse cause that
on webpages. Other times things worked fine. I threw the mouse in the
trash, bought a new one and never had the problem since. My mouse was
a ball type (male one).

Besides the checks for mouse as advised by others, if you are using a later
version of Word, you may also like to double check you don't have the voice
recognition on for Word...

Sometimes it will hear your dulcet tones and think you are giving commands.
The effect is random changes in text, windows and commands being run
unexpectedly.

Check Tools / Speech, and look for "Voice Command".
