Has anybody been able to get XP to remember previous
window size settings after, for example, turning the pc
off and then on, or after defrag etc? I find that
sometimes the user-resized windows will be retained, and
yet at other times, XP seems to put them back to the
default that appears when first using a folder.

Do you have any buttons on the front of your monitor. Set your specs and save the settings there.

Paul,
Ian posted the following (below) to my question on the same topic. The
following worked for awhile and then it started appearing centered at about
800x600 pixels in the center of the screen, my system display is set at
1024x768. I have a new HP Pavilion a350n and it uses IE for
just about everything, search, HP Director, etc. and they always open
centered on the screen at about 800x600 pixels. I beginning to think these
programs are changing IE after I set it per Ian's instructions. I have no
problems now getting WExplorer to open at the size and placement at which I
close it.

Try this, though: Launch IE and expand the size of the window by DRAGGING
it to the size you want, instead of clicking "maximize." Close the window
by clicking File|Close. The next time you launch IE it "should" remember
the size you set previously.

HTH,
Ian.
