Window pop ups will not open even if allowed.

When I tell IE to allow pop up a site like this one, will not even show.
Another problem I have seen, when I hold the shift key to open the link in a
new window, nothing happens. I can see IE loose focus but then it regain
focus. Like a window was opening, but then closed.

I have no other pop up preventing software on this computer. I have the same
virus software on all my computers I manage at work and they all work fine.

Does any body have any ideas on how to fix this, or how can I uninstall IE,
and install a fresh copy?

Hi Andrew :-)

You don't mention the version of Windows you are using, which really is a
must when asking for help in the newsgroups, but, try the following as it may
apply
to your OS and see if it helps:

If you have Google, turn *off* the Advanced Options. Do not allow Google to
take over as your search engine. If you have MSN or Yahoo toolbars, disable
them. If you have Yahoo Companion, uninstall it. If you have any 3rd party
software, popup or ad blockers, disable them.

How to allow Popups in IE Information bar

IE>TOOLS> Options> Privacy tab> Pop-up section> Settings button> check box
for information bar. There you can add the web address to allow pop-ups.

Hold down the Ctrl key while clicking on a link

How to allow popups in IE popup blocker:
Place sites into Exceptions list (to get around Pop-up blocking):
Internet Explorer > main menu /Tools/Popup Blocker>Pop-up Blocker settings

In block titled "Address of Web site to allow" type in www.yoursite.com ,
then click Add, then press Close.

Temprarily allow Popups in XP
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/web/sp2_popupblocker.mspx

Cannot open needed Popups in IE
IE>Tools>Internet Options>Privacy
Uncheck Block Pop-Ups

Hope this helps.

I am using windows xp IE6

I have done all of these things. Still will not allow pop ups.

Even when I hold the shift key down and click the link to show in a new
window. It still will not open a new window.

I can press ctrl + n and open a new window, but I can’t lick the link and
have it open to a new window.

You have any other ideas?

Hi Andrew :-)
I am using windows xp IE6

Thank you for the update information. Try the following and see if it
helps:

Nothing happens when I click a link in IE

Go to Start>Run> and register the following dll's by using
regsvr32 command. Try the first 2, then see if it resolves the problem. If
not then register the rest of the .dll's:

regsvr32 urlmon.dll
regsvr32 actxprxy.dll
regsvr32 scrrun.dll
regsvr32 msxml.dll
regsvr32 mshtml.dll
regsvr32 shdocvw.dll
regsvr32 browseui.dll
regsvr32 msjava.dll

If that doesn't work, then check out the following article and do the
additional steps outlined
there:

You Cannot Open New Internet Explorer Window or Nothing Happens After You
Click a Link

Hope this helps.
