I have made a vidoe and edited it but it won't allow me to copy to CD! It
states that "A recordable CD Drive was not detected".

I have a Sony DVD+- R dual layer burning and it shows that the D drive,
which is the DVD Sony, that it is enable. Why won't it copy? Any
suggestions?

Also, can you take a moviemaker file and import it into the Nero program?
It states that it is not compatible. I also cannot bring it to the Roxy
Program either...very lost and tried many things. Please help.

Thank you.

Do you have a CD or a DVD in the drive?
Movie Maker, unless you see a "Burn to DVD" option, can not burn to a DVD
and you will get that error if you try. Yes you can use Nero IF you have the
full version which includes Nero Vision Express. If you want to create a DVD
though don't save the video as a WMV from Movie Maker instead save it as a
DV-AVI. The movie maker section of my website gives specific instruction to
save to DV-AVI and the DVD Authoring section/Nero gives specific instruction
to use Nero to create your DVD.

Thank you for you tips. I tried to burn the cd and it worked but it won't
play on our dvd payer. Is there soecuak dvd's that you need to buy? I used
the Verbatim DVD-R (DVD-Recordable 16x). Thanks for your help!

Hi Are you using nero 'vision express'?
Browse the DVD and advise the file names on the DVD

Like Eeyore said you need Nero Vision Express to make a DVD or VCD that will
play on a DVD player.
If you purchased the full version of Nero then you have everything you need
so see the Nero tutorial on my website in the "DVD Creation" section for a
step by step tutorial on how to create your DVD with Nero. If you have the
free version of Nero that comes with computers and/or computer hardware then
you likely don't have the needed program. In that case you can still check
out all the programs listed in the "DVD Creation" section of my website most
of them, with the exception of Nero, have trial versions that will work to
create the DVD or VCD for you. You can try them until you find one you like
and only then purchase one.

Just so you dont assume anything - I have an OEM ('free' with my DVD
Burner) version of Nero and it did come with Nero Vision Express so
even if your Nero was 'free' it is possible you do have Nero Vision
Express

Really?
Now that is the first time I have heard that one. Usually everything works
except you can't create a dvd because NVE isn't there. I will have to be
careful in the future I suppose although I did say "likely don't have the
needed program". But Eeyore is right when you go through the tutorial on my
website when you click on "Make your own DVD video" it will open NVE. If it
doesn't and instead asks you to download it then you do not have NVE
installed.

I have, and use, a copy of NeroVision Express that came bundled with
my new CPU XP-Media. I also have the full version of Nero.

I think I have something like six or seven disks with various Nero
versions. I don't think I've ever purchased Nero as a stand-alone.
When you buy a new burner or hard disk, or maybe even a mouse, you end
up with some bundled version of something. Usually, though, they
work only with the device they came with. If the new burner that
replaces the old new burner doesn't have the same bundled product, the
old bundled product doesn't work with the new device. I think I said
that right.

I also just bought an external HP burner (for the "Lightscribe" - way cool
by the way) and it to came bundled with Nero 6, and included the full
program including Nero Vision Express.

Thanks for the info KDE.
Maybe Nero is changing it's thought process with so many other good programs
available.
I will have to check out the free trial of Nero7 since I have always said
that was the only one listed on my site that didn't have a free trial
capable of authoring a DVD. The Nero 6 trial did not include NVE.

You said it right but I don't really know for certain if the bundled Nero is
serial number specific like that or not.

No serial numbers are involved. You just get an error message that
tells you that Nero won't work on this device. It's more specific
than that, but that's the gist of it.

I don't know how it works with Nero. Sometimes it is tied into the products
serial number which can be read by the software.

Well, finished burning and all went with with your instructions Wojo! I do
have Nero Vision Express and just want to thank you for all the help. You
are a great teacher!

Your welcome, glad to hear you were successful!
I will warn you now though, as I do with everybody, once you succeed you are
hooked for life!
