Window MM2 Crashing when vid on Timeline

When I import a mpeg2 file into the program it imports ok, but when i try and
place the mpeg2 clip onto the time line the program crashes, gives this error
report;

ppName: moviemk.exe AppVer: 2.1.4026.0 ModName: mpeg2parser.ax
ModVer: 1.2.0.79 Offset: 000088f2

Anyone know how to fix it??

I am running XP pro with P4 3gig, 1gig Dual Channel DDR ram with SP2

That's an easy one.
Movie Maker does not support mpeg2 files.
Convert them to AVI before importing into Movie Maker.

Thanks guys, but i got it working with importing mpeg2 files using the
program "rename codecs" from Kellys site.

All working good now.

What is the best software to get these videos onto a dvd without losing
quality?? MM2 tends to lose a bit of quality when i burn to DVD.... Pinnacle
also loses quality..
