window minimize failure

I'm running Windows XP Pro, and for the past week haven't
been able to minimize the window display. Suggestions?
 
Grab hold of the of a corner when there is only one window in the corner display and
resize, should minimize okay after that. Right-click the very top of the display
(where it says "my computer") and click minimize.

More details, please. Which apps are not minimizing? Do they run normally
otherwise? When you try to minimize is there any visible change - even a
flicker on the screen? Have you checked to be sure they are not using Full
Screen mode versus Normal or Maximized?
