Have you tried setting your default instant messaging
program in Set Program Access and Defaults? It's
available on the Start menu (if using the XP menu style),
or at the top of the All Programs menu, or in Add/Remove
Programs. If you set MSN Messenger as the default, that
should cause IE to invoke it by default.

Mike,

Good idea. However, Windows messenger is the only choice for Instant
Messenging Program. MSN messenger isn't even suggested in the Enable access
item. I'll try reinstalling MSN messenger and see if it gives me that option.
