because i found this article on eweeks site about using
Window Media Player copy-protection mechanism are being

Is this a needed update for Window Media Player 10?
because when i run window update its not even there at
all, no Window Media Player 10 updates?
is this a security patch or just a fix?

I would recommend to update. To find out why
is a real mess, cant find any good notes about this update.

One link about this:

This is about this spyware:

Latest WMP:

It is a security based update, so as with all things security these days, it
always best to update.

I would put it in.

I asked in another group about this and they said that there would be an
automatic update process that would happen when you opened WMP10. I wasn't
able to observe that process, and I haven't confirmed whether or not that
update has gone in on my machines yet.

I'd love to hear from someone who has seen the update process happen.

WM 10 is optionnal as you can stay with WM9. I agree that if you chose to
upgrade to WM 10 you must apply also security fixes.
