window media player not working, unable to stream

hey people, i cant seem to stream videos from the net, if i tried to, a
message which says
"window media player cannot start the file because the specified protocol is
not supported. I f you type a URL in the Open URL dialog box, try using a
different transport protocol (for example: "http" or "rstp") "
So, what can i do to correct the problem? Thanks in advance, really
appreciate it!!!! :)
