Window keeps going inactive

We have a strange problem. When you open a program (outlook, word, notepad
etc.) it goes inactive even though you are working in that window.
So you have to activate the window again. This is on a Dell portable with
windows xp proff. sp2.

Do you mean that another window steals the focus from the current
