Window installer

A program that I was installing asked to use an updated
version of "Window Installer". I downloaded the latest
version from MS and installed it on my Windows 2000
Server. Now I can't install any program!! It gives me an
error message: "The system cannot open the device or file
specified", whenever I try to install or even open Word,
Access, etc.

I can't seem to uninstall the new version. I don't know
where it resides to delete it either.

Any suggestions? I appreciate your help.
 
This might have something to do with installing SP3 when DCOMCNFG
connection settings has been set to None and Anonymous.

DCOMCNFG must be set to Connect and Identify.

Run DCOMCNFG and check the settings in the standard properties tab.

I had to reinstall W2K and make sure that I hadn't None and Anonymous
before i applied the SP to make it work properly.
