Hi, I am sorry to intrude on this group with an old operating system
question. But I couldn't find any more posting for window 98 newsgroup, nor
the 2000 one...Boy do I need to upgrade. But due to budget constriants I
was wondering if any one can remember how to solve such a problem.
We just bought an HP printer for my wife Dell lap top P3 running Window 98,
unfortunately her lap top didn't have enough memory space on it, so she
deleted a whole bunch of programs that she doesn't use. We discovered after
we rebooted the laptop the bottom Start Bar stays active with the clock
spinning forever, couldn't accesss the Start button or any of the short cuts
on the bottom bar. We tried reinstalling Window 98 thinking we might have
deleted some shared files by accident. Unfortunately it didn't allow us to
even reinstall window 98, it hangs dead forever. So I tried my old trick I
use to know in rebooting in safe mood (F8) /option 5 /scanregistry and
fixing it. Unfortunately it passed the 4 days limit, it only goes back to
2/20/04. and my wife did the cleanup on 2/16.
Any idea how can I get back this lap top to work again.
Thanks for your help
