Using WindowsXP Home Edition/SP2.

When I run WindowsXP System Tool Disk Defrag on my C:\ drive (where OS is
installed) I get the message "Defrag Complete" \ "Some files on this volume
could not be defragmented. Please check the Defragmentation Report for the
list of these files"

When I click on the REPORT, under "Files that did not Defragment" I see NO
files listed.

I have 2 Internal drives, the other drive just holds data (H:\). When I run
Disk Defrag on the H:\drive, the results are; "Defragmentation Completed
Successfully" which support the problem is not with the Disk Defragmenter.

Things I have done: (1) I have run Defrag several times (2) Have run Defrag
in SAFE MODE (3) Have run the WindowsXP tool "Error Checking.....correct
error automatically" (4) downloaded and ran Auslogics Disk Defrag ver 1.3.

None of the above action has corrected the problem, I still get the message
after running Disk Defrag on my C:\...some files on this volume could not be
Defragmented.....etc

How do I correct this and get all files on my C:\ drive defragmented.

That's a known situation of Windows internal defrag mechanism. That's
why 3rd party defrag softwares needed like Perfect Disk which is able
to defrag nearly all files. If you use and confirm please let us know.

First try a Disk Clean and make sure all programs are shut down BEFORE
doing the defrag. (Especially virus detect programs)

Windows has several files that cannot be defragged, plus it cannot defrag
files that are in use IIRC.
Check the Details and it should tell you which files couldn't be
defragmented, then you can research them a little on the search engines.
The Swap File, otherwise called the Pagefile, would be a good one to start
with.
