I posted this before, but it didn't seem to make it to tne NG. The Final
version of Defender seems to be subtly improved. When I have to "allow"
something, it does not "scan" before allowing, but seems to allow
immediately. I believe that indicates an improvement in speed. Also, I am
having good response from alerts. For example, I downloaded David Lipman's
Multi_AV tool, jut to experiement. I knew that it would need firewall
permission to retrieve AV signatures. When I activated WGET.exe, Defender
immediatley alerted to it creating an exclusiion for permission in the
Windows firewall. I allowed, and then WOC firewall blocked it and alerted
that it was trying to access the Internet. So I got 2 alerts for basically
one action - one from Defender, one from WOC. IMO that's not too shabby! BTW
- I ran the KIS and Sophos command line scanners in safe mode using Multi_AV
and they found nothing - but of course WOC had already told me that. Just
experimenting! LOL
