After getting rid of the MSBlaster Worm, I am trying to
download the Windows 2000 update. I get a panel that asks
if I want to install & run the update but it also states
that "Authenticode signature not found". Should I be
concerned? Also, how can you tell if the update has been
installed? Thanks.

Hi Paul

Where are you trying to download this Update from?

Please let us know and we will tell you what to do.

Thanks and Regards,

Hi again

Thanks for writing back.

- What Version of Internet Explorer are you running? To determine this Open
an IE Window and go to the 'Help' Menu and select 'About Internet Explorer'.

- Do a Scan Disk

- Update IE to the lastest Version.

If nothing of the above works, try this:

- Go to Start -> Run...

- in the 'Run.." Window, enter "sfc /scannow" (without the ")

- Have your Windows 2000 CD ready as it will be needed in order to run SFC
(System File Checker)

- This might take some time untill it's completed.

Thanks and Regards,

Fabio

Fabio,

Thanks for the response. I updated IE to 6.028 and ran
Scan Disk & sfc /scannow. After the Windows Update site
checks for the "latest version of Windows Update software"
I get the security warning panel described below. It
never seems to install anything, no matter what response
is given. Am I at the correct site? This is supposed to
be a pretty straight forward procedure, no? Thanks again.

Hi again

Thanks for writing back. The right Page for the Windows Update is
windowsupdate.microsoft.com
(http://v4.windowsupdate.microsoft.com/de/default.asp, respectively). Just
use the link in your 'Start Menu' to get there. Should not really be a
Problem. You are at the right page as well. So this works, at least ;-)

- If you are displayed this Security Warning again next time, click 'Yes' to
accept it. If it freezes after that then try this:

"This may be caused by a third-party firewall product called Zone Alarm. Try
disabling this program and opening the Windows Update site again. Be sure to
enable your firewall again when you are done."

Did it help?

Let us know. Thanks and Regards,

Fabio
